Chimney of steel plant under construction in Mungeli, Chhattisgarh collapses, 30 people feared buried.


New Delhi. A major accident has occurred due to the collapse of a chimney of a steel plant in Mungeli, Chhattisgarh. It is feared that 30 laborers are buried under the chimney. At present two injured laborers have been admitted to the hospital. SDRF team along with local police and administration has also reached the spot. Relief and rescue work is being done. There is also news of some people being killed in this incident, although the situation is not clear yet. Senior officials are also present on the spot.

This accident happened in the under construction Kusum plant. This plant is located in Rambod village near Bilaspur-Raipur National Highway in Mungeli district. Safflower plant is also known as sponge iron factory. Many laborers and employees were working there at the time of the accident. As soon as the chimney fell, many people got buried under it. There was a scream and people started running to save their lives. As soon as information about this incident was received, the police team of Sargaon police station reached the spot and immediately got involved in rescue operations. The police team informed the top officials regarding the incident, after which the fire brigade team also reached there. A medical team of doctors is also present at the spot. Help of big crane and JCB machine is also being taken to remove the debris from the chimney.

At the same time, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has also reacted to this accident. He said, sad news has been received of industrial accident at the smelters plant located in Rambod village of Mungeli district. As soon as information about the incident was received, necessary instructions were given to higher officials for relief and rescue work. Relief and rescue work is going on war footing at the incident site. It is also being continuously monitored. I pray to God for the safety of the workers buried under the debris and the speedy recovery of the injured.
