12 Naxalites killed during encounter in Bijapur, 26 Naxalites eliminated this month


New Delhi. A fierce encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, in which 17 Naxalites were killed. According to police officials, the encounter started at 9 am in the forests of South Bijapur and continued intermittently till late evening. A joint team of security forces had reached the forest as part of an anti-Naxal operation, where the Naxalites attacked them. Senior police officer said that 17 Naxalites have been confirmed killed in the encounter. The search operation is still going on in the area. There was no loss to the security forces in this action.

26 Naxalites killed so far in January

With this encounter, 26 Naxalites have been killed in the state so far in the month of January. On January 12, five Naxalites, including two women Naxalites, were killed by security forces during an encounter in the Madded police station area of ​​Bijapur district.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav said that the security forces have recovered many weapons and ammunition from the Naxalites. This includes an SLR rifle, 12 bore rifle, single shot rifle, BGL launcher and other explosives.

Last year 219 Naxalites were killed

Last year, security forces had killed 219 Naxalites in different operations in the state. Police claim that this is the result of their strategic and precise action against Naxalites.

5 Naxalites were killed on Sunday also

On Sunday, 5 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in the forests of National Park area of ​​Bijapur. Police said that the killed Naxalites included 2 women and 3 men. SP Yadav said that this action was taken on the basis of intelligence information. The operation of the security forces is still going on.
