New Delhi. Information about Indian citizens serving in the Russian Army has been given by the Ministry of External Affairs. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that to date, 126 such cases have been reported, of which 126 are Indian nationals who were or are serving in the Russian armed forces, of whom 96 have already returned. 12 Indian citizens serving in the Russian Army have died. There are 18 Indian nationals left in the Russian army and the whereabouts of 16 of them are unknown, Russia has declared them missing. We are also in touch with Russia to search for them and are also trying for the early release and return of the remaining Indians to their home country.

Expressed grief over the death of an Indian citizen
Randhir Jaiswal expressed grief over the death of Binil Babu from Kerala, who was in the Russian army, and called it extremely unfortunate. He said that we have expressed our condolences to the bereaved family. Our embassy is in touch with the Russian authorities so that his mortal remains can be brought to India as soon as possible. Another person who was injured is undergoing treatment in Moscow, hopefully, he will also return to India soon after the treatment is completed.
