Encounter between security forces and terrorists in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists surrounded


New Delhi. An encounter took place between security forces and terrorists on Sunday, 19 January 2025 in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, security forces had received information about the presence of terrorists in Jalora Gujjarpati area. After this, the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and 179th Battalion of CRPF jointly started the search operation.

During the search operation the terrorists started firing on the security forces. In retaliation, security forces surrounded the area and at least two terrorists were surrounded. Officials said that additional security forces have been deployed at the encounter site so that the operation can be carried out safely.

Tension in the area, security forces on alert
In view of security, local people have been instructed to stay away from the encounter site. Security arrangements have been tightened in the entire area. The encounter was continuing till the time of writing, and there is no report of any casualty.

Memories of past attacks fresh
Activities of terrorists have been seen in Sopore area earlier also. Last year, on November 8, 2024, two terrorists were killed in an encounter by security forces here. Apart from this, on December 3, 2024, a terrorist was killed by security forces during a search operation in Dachigam forest.

Vigilant operation by security forces
The security forces present at the spot are keeping an eye on every possible hideout of the terrorists. The coordination of Army, Police and CRPF is playing an important role in making this operation successful. The government and security forces say that such operations will continue till the end of terrorism. This encounter in Sopore once again shows that the security forces are ready to face every challenge to restore peace in Kashmir.
