According to the latest news, Shariful has told Mumbai Police during interrogation that he came to India only 7 months ago. He continued working as a sweeper in a pub in Thane. He had purchased the SIM card from the Aadhaar of a resident of West Bengal. When Mohammad Shariful was arrested by the joint teams of Mumbai and Thane police, he had given many names. Only after this, Mumbai Police had expressed suspicion that Shariful, who attacked Saif Ali Khan, could be a Bangladeshi citizen.

Saif Ali Khan's attacker Shariful was taken to the actor's house by the Mumbai Police team on Tuesday morning. The Mumbai Police team recreated the scene and tried to find out how Shariful had entered Saif Ali Khan's house on the 12th floor. Earlier, Shariful had told the police during interrogation that he went up the stairs to 10-11 floors and then entered Saif Ali's house through the duct. After entering Saif's house, he tried to hide in the bathroom next to the children's room, but a female employee saw him. During the argument with him, Saif Ali Khan came and tried to catch Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad. On this, Shariful attacked Saif with a knife several times.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked at around 2.30 am on 16 January. Shariful had stabbed him with a knife on his back, neck and hand. A 2.5 inch piece of the knife with which Shariful was attacking had sunk into Saif's back near the spine and broke. Which was removed through surgery. Shariful was locked in the room by Saif, but he managed to escape. Shariful was captured in CCTV camera footage while climbing and descending the stairs. Mumbai Police had received two more CCTV footages. In which Shariful was in blue and yellow T-shirt. His location was also found in Dadar. Later he was arrested in Thane.
