Former Mizoram Governor and Bansuri Swaraj’s father Swaraj Kaushal passes away, PM Narendra Modi expresses grief

New Delhi. Swaraj Kaushal, father of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, passed away today. He was 73 years old and was ill for quite some time. Swaraj Kaushal was a senior advocate of the Supreme Court. He had also been the Governor of Mizoram. Swaraj Kaushal was the youngest Governor of the country. Apart from this, he was also a Rajya Sabha MP from 1998 to 2004. Swaraj was originally from Himachal Pradesh. Swaraj Kaushal and Sushma Swaraj were married in 1975. Bansuri Swaraj is their only child. After the demise of mother Sushma Swaraj in August 2019, Bansuri has been hit by a mountain of sorrows due to the absence of her father. Bansuri has made a post on social media for her father.

Bansuri wrote, Papa Swaraj Kaushal ji, your affection, your discipline, your simplicity, your patriotism and your immense patience are the light of my life which will never dim. Your departure has come as the deepest pain in the heart, but the mind is holding on to the belief that you have now reunited with your mother, in the company of God, in eternal peace. Being your daughter is the greatest pride of my life and your legacy, your values ​​and your blessings will remain the foundation of my every journey ahead. Om peace.

At the same time, PM Narendra Modi has also expressed condolence on the demise of Swaraj Kaushal. Recalling Swaraj Kaushal, Modi said, he made his mark as a lawyer and a person who believed in using the legal profession to better the lives of the underprivileged. He became the youngest Governor of India and left a lasting impression on the people of Mizoram during his tenure. His insight as a parliamentarian was also remarkable. My condolences to his daughter Bansuri and other family members in this sad time. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, Swaraj Kaushal ji’s contribution in the field of public life and law will always be remembered. His service towards the nation and society is unforgettable.
