West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas resigns following the uproar at Lionel Messi’s event.


New Delhi. Sports Minister Arup Biswas has resigned in the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal. The recent uproar at the event of Argentine footballer Lionel Messi at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata is being considered as the reason for his resignation. Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has claimed that the resignation of the Sports Minister has been accepted. According to media reports, Arup Biswas was asked to leave the sports department. BJP had accused Trinamool Congress government and CM Mamata Banerjee of mismanagement in this matter.

After the uproar at Messi’s event, the Bengal government has issued a show cause notice to state DGP Rajeev Kumar, Bidhannagar CP Mukesh Kumar, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Principal Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha. Departmental action has also been initiated against DCP Anish Sarkar for negligence. The chief organizer of Messi’s event was arrested shortly after the incident. Due to this incident, the Bengal government was in a lot of trouble, after which Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a statement and apologized to Messi and his fans and all the sports lovers.

Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose had said that a case of attempt to murder should be registered against the organizers of this event. Let us tell you that there is a different craze for football in Kolkata. Fans had bought tickets at expensive prices to see Lionel Messi, but Messi came only for 10 minutes and the people present in the stadium could not even see Messi properly. Due to this, people got angry and started vandalism. Due to this the stadium also suffered a lot of damage.
