High Court notice to Sonia, Rahul Gandhi and others on ED’s plea in National Herald case
New Delhi. In the National Herald case, Delhi High Court has issued notice to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other accused and sought their reply. In fact, a petition has been filed in the High Court by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenging the decision of Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. Rouse Avenue Court had refused to take cognizance of ED’s charge sheet in the money laundering case against Sonia, Rahul and other accused. Delhi High Court judge Justice Ravindra Dudeja has fixed March 12, 2026 for the next hearing of this case.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, while arguing in the High Court on behalf of ED, said that upholding the trial court’s decision of not taking cognizance of the charge sheet would set a wrong precedent and would also affect other cases related to PMLA. Let us tell you that in its charge sheet, ED has named Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Indian Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey, Sunil Bhandari, Young Indian and Dotex Merchandise Private Limited as accused in this case. The matter came to the notice of National Herald following a complaint by Subramanian Swamy. He had alleged that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other Congressmen close to them paid only Rs 50 lakh and took possession of properties worth Rs 2000 crore of Associated Journals Limited.

ED had registered a case of money laundering in this matter under PMLA. While taking action in this case so far, ED has attached properties of Associated Journals Limited and Young Indian Company worth approximately Rs 751.9 crore. Apart from this, Sonia Gandhi has also been interrogated. Let us tell you that AJL is owned by Young Indian Private Limited. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are the largest shareholders of Young Indian Private Limited.
