New Delhi. Today, the security forces achieved another huge success under the anti-Naxal operation. Six Maoists, including top Naxalite leader Ganesh Uike, were killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. A reward of Rs 1.1 crore was declared on Ganesh Uike. He was a member of the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee and was wanted for a long time. Two women Naxalites were also among the Naxalites who had an encounter. Joint teams of Odisha’s Special Force SOG, CRPF and BSF carried out this operation.

Security forces seized a revolver, .303 rifle and a walkie-talkie set from the spot. A search operation is being conducted in the area by a team of security forces. The identity of other slain Naxalites has not been established yet. Akhileshwar Singh, DIG of Naxal operations of Orissa Police, said that SOG, CRPF and BSF were on a joint search operation in the Rampa forest located on the border of Kandhamal district and Ganjam district. Meanwhile, the Naxalites hiding there started firing on the security forces. In response, there was also firing from the security forces. There was intermittent firing from both sides for a long time. After the firing stopped, bodies of Naxalites were recovered from there.

Earlier last month, Naxalite commander Madvi Hidma, carrying a reward of Rs 1 crore, was also killed by security forces in an encounter. Apart from Hidma, a total of 6 Naxalites including his wife Raje were killed in that encounter. Just two days ago, on December 23, 22 Naxalites had surrendered before the police in Malkangiri, Odisha. The surrendered Maoists had handed over 9 guns including AK and INSAS rifles, 150 cartridges, 20 kg of explosives, 13 IEDs, gelatin sticks and other lethal materials to the authorities. Let us tell you that the Modi government has taken the initiative to completely eliminate Naxalism from the country by March 2026.
