DRDO’s significant achievement, successful launch of two ‘Pralay’ missiles from a single launcher

New Delhi. India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) achieved an important milestone today. Two ‘Pralaya’ missiles were successfully launched from the same launcher at a very short interval of time from the test range at Chandipur, Odisha. This testing was done as part of user evaluation tests. According to DRDO, both Pralay missiles achieved all flight objectives while following the prescribed path. Pralay missile is completely indigenous. The Pralay missile is capable of carrying different types of war heads.

The range of the Pralaya missile is up to 500 kilometers. This missile uses solid fuel and with the help of navigation, it is capable of hitting targets very accurately. The special thing about Pralay missile is that it has radio frequency seeker along with initial navigation system, due to which it easily reaches its target without losing direction. Through this missile, war head ranging from 500 kg to 1000 kg can be delivered to the target. Along with these features, Pralay missile is also known for its high speed.

The Pralay missile has been developed by the Hyderabad-based IRDAI Research Center in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories (Defence Research & Development Laboratory, Advanced Systems Laboratory, Weapons Research & Development Establishment, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Defense Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Research & Development Establishment (Engineers) and Integrated Test Range), development-cum-production partners (Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited) and other Indian industries. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO, Indian Air Force, Indian Army, defense enterprises and industry on the successful launch of the missiles at a rapid pace. He said that the successful launch of Pralay missile has proved the reliability of this missile.
