Deal with it strictly, India’s blunt statement on killings and increasing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh

New Delhi. Regarding attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, we have raised this issue several times in the past. These communal incidents have to be dealt with immediately and strictly. In Bangladesh, minorities are being repeatedly attacked by extremists, their homes are being targeted, their businesses are being destroyed, this is very worrying. Dismissing these as personal or political disputes emboldens the criminals and further deepens the feeling of fear and insecurity among the minorities.

Let us tell you that after the murder of Bangladesh student leader Usman Hadi, attacks on Hindus by fundamentalists have increased. First of all, on December 18, a young man named Dipu Chandra Das was beaten so badly by a mob of fundamentalists that he died. After that his body was hanged from a tree and set on fire. After this incident, about five Hindus have been killed in less than a month. Apart from this, recently two Muslims also gang-raped a Hindu widow woman and cut her hair. Despite all these incidents, the Mohammad Yunus government of Bangladesh is not taking any strict action against the radicals.

India keeps an eye on the situation in Venezuela

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, we are closely monitoring the developments happening in Venezuela. The Indian community there is very small, around 50 people and our embassy is in touch with them. In Colombia, where there are around 650 Indian citizens, our Embassy is also in constant touch with them. As always, we will provide all possible assistance to our citizens whenever assistance is required.
