In Bihar, senior citizens aged 80 years and above will be able to register their land or flat from their homes.

New Delhi. In Bihar, the elderly will no longer have to visit the court or other government offices for land or flat registry related work. The Nitish Kumar-led government of Bihar has decided that senior citizens of 80 years of age and above will get the facility to get their land or flat registered at home. Regarding this, the facility of registration of documents within the fixed time limit will be provided through the registration unit run by the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department. To avail the benefit of this service, online application can be made.

The process of registration of land or flat will be ensured by the concerned department within 7 working days. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given instructions to the officials of the concerned department to implement this system from April 1, 2026. The Chief Minister said that I am confident that this initiative will prove to be very useful for the elderly people of the state aged 80 years and above and their daily life will become even easier. Also, the system of providing updated and accurate information about land will greatly benefit all people.

CM said that often the person wishing to buy land does not have updated information regarding the concerned land due to which he faces problems. Keeping this in mind, arrangements are also being made to provide updated information about the land to the buyer and seller before land registration. Under this system, after applying on the request of the applicants, the Registration Department will obtain the updated status of the land from the zonal office and make it available to the buyer. This will provide a lot of convenience to the applicants and they will be able to get correct information about the land. The government has also sought suggestions from the people in this regard.
