Sanjay Kapoor’s wife Priya Sachdev files defamation case against her sister-in-law Mandira Kapoor


New Delhi. Priya Sachdev Kapoor, wife of late businessman Sanjay Kapoor, has filed a defamation case against her sister-in-law Mandhira Kapoor. In her complaint, Priya has alleged that Mandhira Kapoor has repeatedly uploaded and circulated such videos and posts on social media platforms Instagram, Twitter, YouTube which could damage her reputation. Delhi’s Patiala House Court’s Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Siddhant Sihag heard the case today and asked Priya Kapoor to appear on January 21 to record evidence before issuing summons.

Priya Kapoor has also mentioned Mandhira Kapoor’s statements given in the podcast ‘In Controversial’. The complaint said that in the podcast, Mandhira repeatedly indicated that Priya’s marriage to Sanjay was problematic, fraudulent and not worthy of validity. Show host Pooja Chaudhary has also been made a party in this case. The petition states that such comments directly hurt Priya’s dignity in the eyes of the society as a wife and now a widow. Such allegations are an attack on the foundation of honour, womanhood and social standing of the complainant and hence are automatically defamatory under Section 356 of the BNS.

Let us tell you that after the death of Sanjay Kapoor, a case is going on between Priya Kapoor, her two children from Sanjay’s first wife, actress Karisma Kapoor and Mandhira Kapoor, regarding the rights over his property. Sanjay Kapoor’s ex-wife Karisma Kapoor has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on behalf of her children, seeking children’s share in the property of late Sanjay Kapoor. Let us tell you that Sanjay Kapoor died of a heart attack while playing polo in England on 12 June 2025.
