Haryana IDFC Bank Fraud: In the IDFC Bank fraud case, Haryana government got back the entire amount of Rs 578 crore within 24 hours, CM Saini said – if any officer is also involved, he will not be spared.

Chandigarh. The Haryana government has got back the entire amount along with interest in just 24 hours in the fraud of around Rs 580 crore in IDFC First Bank. According to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, IDFC branch in Chandigarh has deposited principal amount of Rs 556 crore and interest of Rs 22 crore in the government account. CM Saini has said that some middle and low level employees of IDFC Bank branch are involved in embezzlement of such a huge amount by committing fraud. He said that if any officer of Haryana government is involved in this matter, he will not be spared. Haryana Police has also registered a case in this matter.

CM Saini said in the budget session of Haryana Assembly that IDFC First Bank had written a letter on February 21 on this fraud. This matter first came to the notice of Haryana Government and IDFC Bank was de-empaneled on 18th February. Then he was asked to pay the entire amount and interest. Most of the amount of about Rs 580 crore was in the form of FD. CM said that a thorough investigation is being conducted into the matter. For this, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Finance Secretary. The committee will explain in the report how such fraud can be stopped in future.

The amount of Panchayati Department of Haryana Government was deposited in IDFC First Bank. The Panchayat Department had got the FD done. In this matter related to the funds of the department’s offices in Panchkula and Kalka, the employees of Chandigarh Sector 32 branch of IDFC Bank committed irregularities. When the Haryana government found that there was a difference in the amount deposited in the account, it informed the bank. It was found that the FD was not deposited and the amount was invested in the stock market. At the time of paying interest, it was discovered that the amount was short. IDFC Bank has suspended four employees in this matter. Politics in Haryana also heated up when the issue of reduction in government money deposited in banks came to light.
