Supreme Court Ordered Removal Of Encroachments From Railway Land In Banbhoolpura: Supreme Court ordered to free the railway land in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani from encroachments.
New Delhi. Today the Supreme Court has ordered to remove encroachment from railway land in Banbhulpura, Haldwani, Uttarakhand. While giving the verdict, the Supreme Court said that the encroachers do not have the right to live on that land. Along with this, the court has also said that 50 thousand people living on railway land can apply for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The court has directed to identify the affected families and asked the authorities to organize camps after March 19 so that the process of housing applications of these people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana can be facilitated.
The Supreme Court has directed to provide monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to eligible displaced families for six months. The next hearing of the case will be in April and no one will be evicted till then. The top court said that the District Magistrate will decide on the eligibility of the families eligible for the Prime Minister’s residence. The bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said that when there is another place with better amenities, then why should those people be forced to live there.

The bench said that the appellants do not have the right to insist for rehabilitation of the railway land. The court said in its order that this land is necessary for the railway project. Let us tell you that Railways wants to set up a project to expand facilities in 30 hectares of land in Banbhulpura. Some of this land belongs to Railways and the rest belongs to Uttarakhand Government. The state government is ready to give land for the railway project, but due to encroachment on the land, this railway project is stalled.
