How Many Waqf Properties Rejected: Big information about Waqf properties, how many were rejected after verification

New Delhi. The Modi government had implemented the Waqf Amendment Act in 2025 by getting it passed by the Parliament. After which Modi government had created UMEED portal and ordered to register all Waqf properties in it. Now the Minority Affairs Ministry of the Modi government has told how many Waqf properties have been registered on the Umeed portal till March 2, 2026. According to the ministry, till March 2, information about 629527 Waqf properties was given on the portal. Out of which 287695 have been approved. The ministry has also informed that after verification, 38083 Waqf properties registered on the portal have been rejected so far.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs has said that the Waqf Boards located in the states are also giving strong support in registering the property. They are implementing the provisions of the Waqf Amendment Act with enthusiasm and commitment. The Ministry of Minority Affairs has said that the UMEED Central Portal was launched on June 6, 2025 to upload information about properties on the portal under the Waqf Amendment Act. In this, 6 months time was given to enter the information about Waqf properties. This time ended on 6 December 2025. The Ministry has also said that for those Waqf properties which could not be registered on the portal within 6 months, there is a provision in the Act that the Waqf Tribunal can give an extension of another 6 months if satisfied. Which was given to the Waqf Boards of 17 states and union territories.

Let us inform you that petitions were filed in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. It was during the hearing of these petitions that the Central Government launched the UMEED Central Portal and started the system of recording information about Waqf properties in it. The Supreme Court had issued an interim order after hearing the Waqf Amendment Act. In the interim order it was said that the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 is not unconstitutional. The Supreme Court had stayed two provisions of the Waqf Amendment Act in its interim decision. Now the Supreme Court has to give its full verdict on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. It is believed that the Supreme Court’s decision on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 will come this year.
