LPG Cylinder Booking Period Increased: Now LPG cylinders will be booked at an interval of 25 days, government’s decision to stop hoarding amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
New Delhi. Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, there is an environment of uncertainty regarding the supply of oil and gas across the world. Meanwhile, taking a big decision, the Government of India has extended the time for booking LPG (domestic gas) cylinders. Now after 25 days of booking a cylinder, consumers will be able to book another cylinder. ANI has given this news quoting government sources. Earlier the limit for booking LGP cylinder was 21 days. It has been told by the government that to prevent hoarding and black marketing, the period for LPG booking has been increased to 25 days.
According to government sources, many such cases have come to light where earlier LPG cylinders were booked in 55 days, but now they are being booked in 15 days. It is believed that in view of the situation in the Middle East, some people are hoarding cylinders. If this happens then there may be a shortage of cylinders in future and that is why this decision has been taken by the government. The government has ordered refineries to increase LPG production. Domestic LPG has been ordered to be given priority over commercial connections. The government says that domestic consumers will always be given priority. The government is in talks with other suppliers for the supply of LPG. Countries like Algeria, Australia, Canada, Norway have approached to sell LPG.

Let us tell you that the government has already made it clear that there is no shortage of oil or gas in the country. We have a good stock of these. As per current energy reserves, we are in a good position. We have far more energy sources than are trapped in the Strait of Hormuz. The Government also stated that we will bridge the supply shortfall from the Strait of Hormuz by increasing energy supplies from other geographical areas.
