Government’s Appeal Regarding LPG Cylinders Booking: Avoid panic booking, there is no shortage of gas anywhere, the government made an appeal clarifying the situation regarding the supply of LPG cylinders.

New Delhi. Amidst the increasing concerns of the people regarding the supply of LPG cylinders, the Central Government has once again clarified that there is no shortage of LPG anywhere in the country. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing and Oil Refinery), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said, “In view of the current geopolitical situation, it remains a matter of concern for us, although till now there has been no report from anywhere of depletion of LPG stock. Along with this, he has appealed to the people to avoid panic booking of LPG cylinders and book gas only when needed.

Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said that I would like to emphasize one special thing that the cases of panic booking are still very high. The figure that I shared with you yesterday was around 75 to 76 lakh bookings and now it has increased to around 88 lakh. This is panic booking, so my appeal is to avoid panic booking and book when needed. He further said, as far as crude oil and refineries are concerned, we have adequate supply of crude oil and our refineries are also working at full capacity. There have been no incidents of stock out at retail outlets, petrol and diesel are available in abundance.

He further said that as far as natural gas is concerned, yesterday I had drawn your attention to the objective of the government that wherever commercial consumers are facing difficulties or interruptions in their LPG supply, they should be shifted to PNG connections. In furtherance of this objective, GAIL (Gas Authority of India Limited) held a meeting with various CGD operators and advised them to expedite the process of providing PNG connections to all eligible commercial consumers, wherever possible.
