Rajya Sabha Poll Result 2026: After Bihar, NDA played in Odisha too in Rajya Sabha elections, made its candidates win by cross voting of opposition MLAs.

New Delhi. Due to cross voting, BJP won 9 seats in the elections for Rajya Sabha seats of 3 states. First, due to cross voting in Bihar, all 5 NDA candidates won. Here 3 Congress MLAs and 1 RJD MLA did not cast their vote. Due to which RJD candidate was defeated. At the same time, in Odisha also, due to cross voting, BJP won 3 Rajya Sabha seats. BJD won 1 seat. Whereas, in Haryana, BJP and Congress captured 1 Rajya Sabha seat each. In the remaining states, candidates won unopposed on 26 seats. Of these, BJP and the opposition won 13 seats each.

In Bihar, the victory of Nitish Kumar, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, RLM president Upendra Kushwaha and Union Minister Ramnath Thakur was certain, but NDA had made Shivesh Ram the fifth candidate. Whereas, RJD had also fielded a candidate. The same RJD candidate lost due to cross voting and Shivesh Ram won and reached Rajya Sabha. To win the fifth seat, NDA needed 3 MLAs and the opposition Grand Alliance needed 6 MLAs, but due to the absence of 4 MLAs, Shivesh Ram won with second preference votes. Congress’s Surendra Kushwaha, Manohar Prasad Singh, Manoj Biswas and RJD’s Faisal Rehman gave a shock to the opposition.

In Odisha, 3 Congress MLAs Sophia Firdous, Ramesh Jena and Dashrath Gomago did cross voting. All of them voted in favor of BJP supported Dilip Ray. Due to this, the joint candidate of BJD and Congress, Datteshwar Hota, lost. INLD did not participate in the voting of Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana. At the same time, the Election Commission declared the vote of Congress’s Paramveer Singh illegal. The votes of another Congress MLA Bharat Singh Beniwal and BJP’s Anil Vij were also complained about, but the votes of both were declared valid. After this the counting continued for 6 hours. After which Sanjay Bhatia and Karamveer Buddh of BJP and Congress were elected to the Rajya Sabha. Whereas, BJP supporter Satish Nandal lost the election. In this way, in the Rajya Sabha elections, NDA shocked the opposition in 2 out of 3 places.
