New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron, Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and Malaysia’s PM Anwar Ibrahim. Amidst the troubled situation in West Asia, PM Narendra Modi is in constant touch with the heads of many global countries. In conversation with these leaders, PM Modi reiterated his support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their country. Modi also discussed the Strait of Hormuz with the Sultan of Oman. At the same time, Modi extended Eid greetings to the Sultan of Oman and the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Giving information about his conversation with these leaders, Modi wrote in a social media post, I had a meaningful conversation with my brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and extended best wishes for Eid. We agreed that it is necessary to give priority to dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions and subsequently restore peace and stability. We reiterated India’s condemnation of the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and appreciated Oman’s efforts in the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals. India and Oman are committed to safe and unimpeded transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

In another post, Modi also wished his friend, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, a happy Eid-ul-Fitr. We also discussed the extremely worrying situation in West Asia and reiterated our shared commitment to de-escalate tensions and early restoration of peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy. Additionally, I spoke to my dear friend, President Emmanuel Macron, about the situation in West Asia and the urgent need to de-escalate tensions as well as return to dialogue and diplomacy. India and France look forward to continuing their close coordination to promote peace and stability in the Middle East region and beyond.
