26/11 Mumbai Attack Case: Special NIA court directs to expedite the process of filing supplementary chargesheet against Tahawwur Rana.
New Delhi. The special NIA court at Patiala House has directed to speed up the process of filing supplementary chargesheet against Tahawwur Hussain Rana, accused in the conspiracy of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The court has also set a deadline for this. The court has asked the NIA to file the chargesheet by May 2026 under any circumstances. Now the next hearing of the case will be on April 24. NIA informed the court that voice samples of Rana have been taken and this will make it easier to confirm the evidence.
Tahawwur Rana was extradited from America and brought to India in April last year. NIA had arrested Rana under UAPA at the airport itself. Since then, Rana is lodged in the special security barrack of Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Rana has made many important revelations during the interrogation of Mumbai Crime Branch. Tahawwur Rana had told that when the attack took place in 2008, he himself was present in Mumbai. He has also confessed that he was part of this terrorist conspiracy. He has also told that he is an agent of Pakistani Army. Rana had told that his friend David Coleman Headley, who was one of the main accused in the Mumbai attacks, had taken training for Lashkar several times.

Rana has also admitted before the Mumbai Police that he had done recce of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and some other places in Mumbai several times. Tahawwur Rana was born in Pakistan but got Canadian citizenship in 2001. Recently, news came that Rana had given wrong information while filling the form to obtain Canadian citizenship and due to this his citizenship is being cancelled.
