Kolkata. The Election Commission is going to release the first supplementary voter list in West Bengal today. This supplementary voter list is of those people in whose names or other information logical discrepancies were found and the judicial authorities decided whether to keep their names in the voter list or not. In West Bengal, names of about 58 lakh voters were deleted after special intensive verification of voters i.e. SIR. Whereas, names of 60 lakh 6 thousand voters were sent to judicial authorities due to logical discrepancy.

The West Bengal government has made tight security arrangements in all the districts to ensure that there is no incident of violence anywhere after the release of the first supplementary voter list. A large number of police and central forces have been deployed. Dainik Jagran newspaper quoted West Bengal State Election Commission sources as saying that out of 60 lakh logical discrepancy voters, judicial officers had settled the cases of 27.30 lakh till Friday. Information about these voters only will be given in the first supplementary list. After the release of the supplementary voter list, its copy will be placed at all 80,000 booths. There will be two categories in this list. The first category will contain the names of those voters who have been added. The second category will contain the names of those voters who have been deleted.

After the supplementary voter list comes in West Bengal, the voters whose names will not be there can take it to the tribunal constituted by the Election Commission online or through the DEO of their district. The Election Commission has formed 19 tribunals to hear the cases of such voters. In which former judges have been made chief. The ruling TMC in West Bengal is continuously targeting the Election Commission and BJP on the issue of SIR. At the same time, BJP says that Mamata Banerjee is upset with the names of infiltrators being deleted. West Bengal Assembly elections are to be held on 23 and 29 April. The results of West Bengal Assembly elections will come on May 4.
