Inter-state illegal arms smuggling module busted in Jalandhar, two smugglers from UP arrested
New Delhi. In a major breakthrough, Counter Intelligence of Punjab Police has busted an interstate illegal arms supply gang in Jalandhar. Counter Intelligence has also arrested two smugglers. Both the arrested accused are residents of Uttar Pradesh. 10 country-made pistols (7.65 mm) and 20 magazines have been recovered from them. During investigation, the arrest of these two accused from Uttar Pradesh revealed that they were working at the behest of gangs operating from Germany and America and were supplying weapons to criminal gangs of Punjab.

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said that earlier, two BKI operatives were arrested for planting three grenades and an IED near Balachaur on the instructions of their foreign handler. According to the police, the same IED was later used in the blast near Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh. According to the DGP, these accused were also involved in the incident of purchasing weapons for extortion and firing at the house of a travel agent in Garshankar on the instructions of a foreign handler.

Preliminary investigation has also revealed that these accused have strong connections with foreign handlers who carry out terrorist and criminal activities. Even before the arrest in this case, the involvement of BKI members in incidents related to explosives and extortion has been revealed. A case has been registered at Amritsar Police Station (SSOC). The arrested accused are being interrogated and further investigation is underway to dismantle the entire network. DGP says that Punjab Police is committed to ensuring peace, public safety and crime free Punjab in the country.
