In a note issued by the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, it has been said that there is sufficient stock at all the petrol pumps across the country and they are functioning normally, no rationing of petrol or diesel is being done. Every Indian refinery (which converts crude oil into fuels like petrol and diesel) is running at more than 100 per cent capacity. There is no shortage of supply. Also, oil companies have increased the credit given to petrol pumps to 3 days, so that there is no shortage of fuel at any pump due to lack of capital.

According to the government, despite the ongoing tension in the Strait of Hormuz, India is importing crude oil from more than 41 countries and now the supply is more than before. India has a total gas reserve of 74 days. Supplies for the next two months have been secured in advance to face any emergency. In view of the ongoing developments in West Asia, the Government of India is continuously monitoring the situation and taking necessary preparedness and response measures to ensure stability in critical areas.
