Voters On Mamata’s Bhabanipur seat: How many voters were cast in Mamata Banerjee’s Bhabanipur assembly seat? Shubhendu Adhikari is challenging TMC Chief here.
Kolkata. The first round of voting for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 is to be held on April 23 and the second round on April 29. There are many important seats and candidates in the second round. Among them are TMC supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and BJP’s Subhendu Adhikari. Mamta Banerjee has filed nomination from Bhawanipur assembly seat of Kolkata. Here Subhendu Adhikari is challenging him. Now the news is that after SIR, names of 25 percent of the voters already present in Bhawanipur have been deleted.

The Times of India, quoting sources, has said that the names of 51004 voters have been deleted from Mamata Banerjee’s seat Bhawanipur. Of these, 76.7 percent are non-Muslims and 23.3 percent are Muslims. Before SIR, the number of voters in Bhawanipur assembly seat was 206295. During SIR, 44787 voters were found dead, duplicate or transferred. Whereas, in the second phase also, names of 2342 voters were removed from Mamta’s seat. Quoting sources, the newspaper said that the Election Commission had kept 14154 voters in logical confusion in Bhawanipur. Out of these, names of 3500 were deleted.

Politics has heated up in West Bengal on the issue of SIR. Mamata Banerjee and TMC leaders are continuously alleging that BJP and Election Commission together deleted the names of their voters. Mamata Banerjee has also approached the Supreme Court on this issue, but the Supreme Court refused to stay the SIR being conducted by the Election Commission. In West Bengal, the names of about 91 lakh voters with logical discrepancy have been deleted by the judicial officers deployed on the orders of the Supreme Court. These voters can now appeal to the judicial tribunal. However, even after getting approval from the Tribunal, this time they will hardly be able to vote in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee is further enraged by this.
