Parliament Special Session: Tejasvi Surya responded to Gaurav Gogoi’s allegations regarding women’s reservation bill and delimitation.

New Delhi. In the three-day special session of Parliament today, the Constitution (131st) Amendment Bill, Delimitation Bill, 2026 and Union Territory Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 were introduced for discussion in the Lok Sabha by the government. Voting on these three bills will take place tomorrow i.e. on April 17 at 4 pm. In the ongoing discussion on the three bills in the Lok Sabha, a heated argument is being seen between the opposition and the ruling party. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, the Women’s Reservation Bill is inspired by the intention of delimitation, which has been labeled as quota for women. Whereas BJP MP Tejashwi Surya presented the government’s side on Gaurav Gogoi’s allegations.

BJP MP Tejashwi Surya said that when the women’s reservation bill was first introduced, RJD and SP MPs had torn the copy of the bill. Today this bill is being passed only because of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Surya further said that delimitation is not a backdoor process but it is happening only on the basis of the rules laid down in the Constitution. He also said that efforts are being made to confuse the people of South India regarding delimitation. Earlier, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, from the words of Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, it seemed as if women’s reservation was being discussed in this House for the first time. But three years ago, the then Home Minister Amit Shah had said similar things at that time too and if you listen to the expressions of both of them, I think that 90% of what the Home Minister had said at that time, today the Law Minister has read it to us again.

Gogoi said, similar discussions had taken place at that time also, and we were saying the same thing then as we are saying in front of you today that our Congress party is in favor of women’s reservation. But please simplify the women’s reservation, so that the moment this law is passed, it becomes applicable to our existing strength of 543 members in the Lok Sabha. Don’t add it to the delimitation. We had said this then and are saying this even today.
