Kolkata. Clashes between TMC and BJP supporters were reported at many places during the second round of voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 on Wednesday. Apart from this, despite the deployment of central forces, the BJP candidate caught a case of tape being pasted over the BJP button on the EVM in the polling booth. BJP candidate from a seat in Kolkata, Priyanka Tibrewal also accused TMC of voting irregularities. At the same time, at a polling booth in North 24 Parganas district, voters accused the CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee of threatening them.

In a polling booth in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal, voters expressed their displeasure in front of the media and said that Mamata Banerjee feels that she has lost the assembly elections. A voter alleged that Mamata Banerjee brought goons in her car. This voter alleged that a person got down from the vehicle brought by Mamata Banerjee and threatened him. Till the time of writing the news, there was no reaction from Mamata Banerjee or any TMC leader regarding the allegations against her. This is the first time that voters have accused Mamata Banerjee of threatening her with goons.

The Election Commission decided to conduct the West Bengal Assembly elections in two rounds. In the first round, voting was conducted on 23 April for 152 seats of West Bengal Assembly. On that date, 93.13 percent voters had exercised their franchise. After voting on 142 seats in the second round, counting of votes recorded in EVMs will take place on May 4. Mamata Banerjee’s TMC government has been in power in West Bengal for 15 years. This time BJP claims that the people of the state will oust Mamata Banerjee’s government from power. At the same time, Mamata Banerjee and TMC leaders are claiming to form the government for the fourth consecutive time.
