Defamation Case Against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann: Court’s ultimatum to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in the defamation case, directed to appear in the next hearing.
New Delhi. The court has reprimanded Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and given an ultimatum. Actually, a defamation case is going on against Bhagwant Mann in a court of Mansa. The court expressed displeasure over Mann’s continuous absence during the hearing of the case. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajinder Singh Nagpal said in clear words that if Bhagwant Mann is not present in the court on the next date, then the bail granted to him in this case will be cancelled. The court has fixed May 1 for the next hearing of the case.

ACJM of Mansa Court Rajinder Singh Nagpal said that Bhagwant Mann has not appeared before the court even once since October 2022. Former Aam Aadmi Party MLA Nazar Singh Manshahiya had filed a defamation case against Bhagwant Mann and some media persons. Manshahiya had said in his complaint that Mann has accused him of taking money from Congress in exchange for resigning from AAP. Manshahiya said that the allegations of changing party after taking money have been deliberately made to tarnish my image.

In the year 2020, the lower court took cognizance of the case and issued a notice to Mann and other people associated with the media. During the hearing in this case in October 2022, Bhagwant Mann got bail after filling the bail bond. The court says that after that Mann never appeared in the court for some reason or the other. Due to his non-appearance, the proceedings of the case are not progressing. Now the court has instructed Bhagwant Mann’s lawyer to ensure his client’s presence in the court at all costs during the hearing to be held on May 1.
