New Delhi. BJP led NDA government is going to be formed once again in Assam. At present the counting of votes is going on but according to the trends and results so far, BJP’s victory is certain. NDA alliance is seen getting 97 seats while Congress is ahead on 24 seats. Meanwhile, a big blow to Congress has been the defeat of Gaurav Gogoi. The face of Congress in Assam and the party’s state president Gaurav Gogoi himself has lost the elections. At the same time, some other big faces of Congress have also not been able to save their seats.

Gaurav Gogoi had contested elections from Jorhat assembly seat. He was defeated by BJP’s Hitendra Nath Goswami by more than 23 thousand votes. BJP candidate got more than 69 thousand votes, while about 46 thousand votes were cast in favor of Gaurav Gogoi. The big thing is that 9 out of 10 assembly seats in Jorhat district seem to be going in favor of NDA. Let us tell you that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Gaurav Gogoi became MP by winning the election from Jorhat seat. This time also in the assembly elections, Congress contested from Jorhat itself but the public rejected it. Let us tell you that Sonari, Mahmora, Domou, Sibsagar, Nazira, Mazuki, Tech, Jorhat, Mariani and Titabar seats come under Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, out of which Congress’s Akhil Gogoi is leading from Sibsagar seat and NDA candidates are leading on all other seats.

BJP’s Hitendra Nath Goswami, who defeated Gaurav Gogoi, has become MLA by winning the election from this seat for the third consecutive time. He joined BJP in the year 2014. Goswami has also been the speaker of the Assam Assembly from 2017 to 2021. With today’s victory, Hitendra Nath Goswami has become a 6-time MLA.
