New Delhi. This time in West Bengal, a woman who works as a sweeper, mop and wash utensils in other people’s houses has become an MLA by winning the assembly elections. Her name is Kalpita Majhi and she was fielded by BJP from Aushgram assembly seat. BJP candidate Kalpita Majhi has defeated her rival Shyama Prasanna of Trinamool Congress in the elections by more than 12 thousand votes. Kalpita’s story sounds exactly like a movie story and her journey from a domestic worker to becoming an MLA has been full of struggles.

Kalpita Majhi has secured 1,07,692 votes from Aushagram seat. Kalpita, a resident of Ward No. 3 of Guskara Municipality, used to earn around Rs 2,500 a month by working in houses till now. The big thing is that even a few days after BJP announced her name as a candidate, Kalpita kept going to work in homes. However, later when the election campaign started, he stopped going to work. Let us tell you that Kalpita has contested elections before also. In the 2021 Bengal Assembly elections also, BJP had fielded Kalpita by giving her a ticket. However, in that election, Kalpita lost to the TMC candidate in a tough contest.

After losing in the last election, Kalpita continued working in homes. Now in this election, BJP once again trusted Kalpita and gave her the ticket again. This time the voters of Aushgram assembly supported Kalpita and due to the support of the voters, Kalpita has been successful in winning the election by a huge margin from the TMC candidate. This time BJP has got an overwhelming majority in West Bengal and for the first time a saffron government is going to be formed there.
