New Delhi. NCP (SCP) President Sharad Pawar has openly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Not only this, he also gave advice to those criticizing PM Modi. Sharad Pawar said at an event organized in Mumbai that as Prime Minister, Modi is working to strengthen India’s reputation at the international level. He said that our opinion on political issues may differ from that of Prime Minister Modi, but when it comes to the prestige of the country, we all should come together. National interest should be paramount.

Pawar further said that when it comes to national interest, everyone should come forward with a common objective of contributing collectively. Political differences should not interfere in matters of national interest. During this, Pawar, while referring to former Prime Ministers like Indira Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh, said that they always kept the future of the country and its reputation at the center of their leadership. Pawar also narrated an incident related to Indira Gandhi. He told that once when Indira Gandhi was on a visit to the Soviet Union, she felt that the Indian Prime Minister did not get enough respect. Indira Gandhi expressed displeasure over this and told the Soviet officials, I represent 40 crore Indians. If his reputation is not respected then I will not accept it.

He also mentioned his memorable meeting with Jawahar Lal Nehru. Pawar said that in his early days, he once went to meet the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at Teen Murti Bhawan in Delhi. He had made a list of many questions related to farmers and youth which he had to ask the Prime Minister, but he forgot everything in front of Nehru’s influential personality.
