SC Dismisses Petition Seeking Computer Based Re-Exam For NEET: NEET re-exam to be held on June 21 will not be computer based, Supreme Court rejects petition

New Delhi. The re-exam of NEET UG 2026, which is to be held on June 21, will not be computer based but on OMR sheet only. The Supreme Court has rejected the petition demanding computer-based re-examination. This petition was filed on behalf of RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, social activist Anubhav Garg, IMA national spokesperson Dr. Dhruv Chauhan. Supreme Court Justice P.S. While hearing the petition, the bench of Justice Narasimha and Justice Arvind Kumar said that there is already a lot of pressure on NTA for re-exam, in such a situation it would be impractical to conduct computer based examination this year.

Let us tell you that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has already announced that from next year the NEET exam will be online computer based. However, the petitioners wanted the re-exam to be held this year also in online mode. It is noteworthy that the government has decided to give 15 minutes additional time to the students in NEET re-exam for the exam formalities, such as signing the OMR sheet at the beginning and end of the exam, etc. The timing of the exam to be held on June 21 will be from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. Admit cards will be available by June 14, 2026.

NEET paper leak case is pending in the Supreme Court. During the last hearing, the apex court had reprimanded the NTA and directed it to ensure accountability. Along with this, a counter affidavit has also been sought from the Central Government in which it should be told through which reforms and efforts the NTA should be made better so that incidents of question paper leak do not happen in future. The court said that this is a very serious issue which is related to the future of the students. At the same time, the government had told the Supreme Court that Narendra Modi himself is monitoring this entire matter and whoever is guilty will be given strict punishment.
