The Executive Council of Barkatullah University on Wednesday approved the proposal to change its name to ‘Maa Vagdevi Bhojpal University’. The proposal has been passed by the Executive Council and sent to Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel.

The Executive Council of Barkatullah University has compared Raja Bhoj and Swatantra Sena Barkatullah Bhopali in the proposal. Regarding the historical and cultural contribution of Raja Bhoj, it has been said in the proposal that Barkatullah Bhopali was a resident of Bhopal. There is no visible contribution of his to this field more than this. For this reason, it has been recommended to change the name of Barkatullah University. It has been said in the proposal that Bhopal has historical and cultural heritage. Because of which it would be better to name it Maa Vagdevi Bhojpal University.

Before the year 1988, the name of Barkatullah University was Bhopal University. Then its name was changed. So that Maulana Barkatullah Bhopali, who took part in the freedom movement, can be honored. Barkatullah Bhopali was born in Bhopal. While living abroad, he led the movement for India’s independence. Barkatullah joined the Bhopali Gadar Party and participated in the international campaign of revolutionaries. Barkatullah Bhopali died in 1927 in San Francisco, America. At the same time, Raja Bhoj had written about 80 texts. Of which 27 are currently available. He made his capital at Dhar. Where Bhojshala was established.
