Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy Resigns: Minister Ramalinga Reddy resigns in Karnataka government, rift over division of departments in DK Shivakumar cabinet.


New Delhi. After DK Shivakumar became the Chief Minister of Karnataka, a controversy has started again in the Congress government. Angered by the division of departments in the cabinet, Minister Ramalinga Reddy has resigned from his post. Ramalinga Reddy says that he was assured to be given the Bengaluru Urban Development (GBA) department but he has been made the Water Resources Minister. Angered by this, Reddy announced his resignation from the post of minister. Although Reddy says that I am not angry with any person but for my self-respect I had to take the decision to leave the post of minister.

Ramalinga Reddy held a press conference after resigning. In which he said that this step of mine is not anti-party, I am in Congress and will always remain so. As an MLA, I will fulfill my duties towards the public. Reddy said, I never asked for a ministerial post or any special department from any Chief Minister. When I was a minister in the Siddaramaiah government, DK Shivakumar had told me that when I would become the Chief Minister, I would give you the portfolio of Bengaluru Urban Development Ministry, but now after becoming the CM, Shivakumar did not fulfill his promise and gave me the Water Resources Ministry instead of the Bengaluru Urban Development Ministry.

When Ramalinga Reddy started leaving after resigning from the post of minister, his supporters appealed to him to withdraw his decision and lay down in front of his car but he did not back down from his decision. Krishna Byre Gowda has been given the Bengaluru Urban Development Ministry in the DK Shivakumar government. Let us tell you that Ramalinga is considered a big leader of Congress in Karnataka. He has been elected MLA eight consecutive times. He has been a minister from Veerappa Moily’s government to Siddaramaiah’s government. During this period, he held many important portfolios including Home Minister and Transport Ministry.
