New Delhi. The powerful countries of the world have thousands of nuclear weapons. India and Pakistan are the only two nuclear powers in South Asia. Now the latest report of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute i.e. SIPRI states that India has increased the number of its nuclear weapons by 2025. According to SIPRI report, Pakistan has not increased the number of nuclear weapons in the last one year.

However, no country discloses the number of its nuclear weapons. In such a situation, SIPRI’s report is only an estimate. SIPRI has estimated that India now has 190 nuclear weapons. Whereas, in 2025 it had 180 nuclear weapons. SIPRI has estimated in its report that Pakistan has 170 nuclear weapons. SIPRI report says that Russia has the maximum number of 5420 nuclear weapons. Whereas, America has 5042 nuclear weapons. According to SIPRI, China has increased the number of nuclear weapons from 600 to 620. At the same time, France has increased the stockpile of nuclear weapons the most to 370 instead of 290.

The SIPRI report estimates that North Korea has increased the number of its nuclear weapons to 60. SIPRI estimated North Korea to have 50 nuclear weapons in 2025. SIPRI report says that in January 2026, there were 12187 nuclear weapons worldwide. Whereas, in 2025 their number was 12241. In this way, there has been some reduction in the number of nuclear weapons in the last one year. Nuclear weapons have been used only twice so far. During the Second World War, America dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6 and Nagasaki on August 9. Due to which lakhs of people lost their lives. After this, one country after another started making nuclear weapons for their security.
