Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Accident: Tragic accident in Visakhapatnam, molten steel fell on workers, 8 killed, many others injured


New Delhi. A very painful accident took place in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh. Here the previous steel fell on the workers working there. In this incident, 8 laborers have died while many others are said to be injured. After this incident, a fire broke out in the plant. As soon as information about the incident was received, the fire brigade team reached there and started extinguishing the fire. According to the information received, a large amount of molten steel fell in the SMS-2 and STC-3 thermal plants of the steel plant. The incident was caused by the explosion of a ladle filled with molten steel at extreme temperatures. Expressing condolences on this accident, PM Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also took cognizance of the incident. He said that he is deeply shocked by the death of workers in this accident. The CM himself has spoken to the concerned officials and directed them to expedite the relief work in coordination with all government departments. Circle Inspector of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Keshav Rao said that after the incident, there was chaos there and the employees started running here and there to save their lives. Efforts are being made to control the fire. The injured have been sent to the hospital. State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita has expressed grief over the accident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He himself reached the spot and took stock of the situation and spoke to Visakhapatnam District Collector and the city Police Commissioner. The Home Minister has directed the officials to ensure that better medical treatment is available to the injured. Besides, he has also been asked to speed up the rescue and relief operations at the accident site.
