TMC Leader Udayan Guha Arrest: TMC leader Udayan Guha, who was a minister in Mamata Banerjee’s government, arrested, know in which case action was taken


New Delhi. TMC leader Udayan Guha, who was a minister in Mamata Banerjee’s government in West Bengal, has been arrested by the police. Dinhata police station has arrested Guha from his house in Phoolbagan, Kolkata. Udayan Guha is accused of corruption, extortion, fraud and violence. At present, the case in which Udayan Guha has been arrested is related to ‘cut money’ in the name of providing houses to people under the Housing for All project. A case was registered against him on June 11 under sections 406/409/420 of the IPC.

Current Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari had also accused Udayan Guha in the attack on his convoy in September last year. He had accused the TMC leader of being behind that incident. Besides, the then Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Subhendu Adhikari had also accused Mamata Banerjee’s government of saving Udayan Guha. There is also an allegation against Udayan Guha that he misappropriated crores of rupees collected in the name of building a children’s unit in a government hospital. In this case, complainant Rupam Saha claimed that Rs 20 to 25 crores were collected for the construction of the children’s unit but the work was done only worth Rs 40-50 lakhs.

Udayan Guha comes among the influential leaders of TMC. He has been MLA from Dinhata assembly seat several times. He has a strong hold in the politics of North Bengal. Guha was earlier associated with the All India Forward Bloc. Then in October 2015, he left the Forward Bloc and joined Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress. After the formation of BJP government in Bengal, many TMC leaders have been arrested in cases related to corruption and violence.
