New Delhi. In Dhanaura village of Ambala district of Haryana, a 4-year-old boy named Nirbhay fell into a 220 feet deep borewell in the field. The child, along with his family members, had gone to the fields to give food to his father when he slipped and fell into an open borewell. As soon as information about the incident was received, Ambala Police, administration officials along with NDRF, SDRF and Indian Army reached the spot and started a large-scale rescue operation. Everyone is praying for the child’s safe exit. The child’s family is in bad condition and crying.

Ambala Deputy Commissioner Ajay Tomar said, the incident was reported at around 6:30 in the morning. The child was playing in the field and his father was working. While playing, he fell into the borewell. The borewell is about 9 inches wide. The child is trapped at a depth of about 220 feet. Our emergency response team immediately reached the spot and now Army and NDRF teams have also reached. Special equipment is being used to save the child and heavy machines have also been ordered from the army. Our effort is to bring the child out safely.

Health check-up of the child’s family members is also being done. The borewell that is open in the field belongs to the neighbor of the victim’s family. SHO has been instructed to take action in this regard. Let us tell you that many such cases have already been reported in Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. In such incidents, some children were lucky to survive while most could not come out alive. The apex court had also taken cognizance of the incidents of children falling into borewells and expressed concern over it and had directed the state governments to ensure that borewells are not left open anywhere.
