Congress Not Paying Rent: Congress is not paying the rent of the office at 24 Akbar Road, Delhi for 13 years! Central Government said – occupied even after the allotment was cancelled.
New Delhi. Indira Gandhi Bhawan has become the new office of Congress in Delhi. Most of the work of Congress is now done from the new office. At the same time, Congress has neither vacated the old office at 24 Akbar Road nor is paying its rent after the allotment was cancelled. However, Congress organizes many programs at 24 Akbar Road. India Today magazine had sought information about the rent of Congress office in RTI. In response to this RTI, the Central Government has said that Congress is not paying the rent for the bungalow at 24 Akbar Road for 13 years.

There is an old office of Congress at 24 Akbar Road in a posh area of Delhi. This is a Type-8 bungalow. The Directorate of Estates of the Central Government has said in response to RTI that the bungalow at 24 Akbar Road was allotted to Congress on August 7, 1992. It has been told in the reply that on June 26, 2013, the allotment of the bungalow at 24 Akbar Road to Congress was cancelled. Since the same date, Congress has neither paid rent nor vacated the bungalow at 24 Akbar Road. That means Congress is occupying this bungalow without the approval of the Central Government.

The Directorate of Estates has also said in its response to RTI that the outstanding rent is being reviewed. This is yet to be decided. There is no reaction from Congress on this news yet, but there are chances of politics heating up in this matter. Especially because the monsoon session of Parliament is also near. Where Congress is cornering the ruling BJP by raising issues like NEET and Ayodhya Ram Mandir donation theft. At the same time, now BJP can target Congress on the issue of non-payment of office rent and its occupation. BJP has earlier also been alleging that Congress is occupying the lands. BJP always raises the issue of National Herald.
