Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Meet Karur Stampede Victim Families: Tamil Nadu CM Vijay, meeting the families of Karur stampede victims, raised questions on the functioning of the police.

New Delhi. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay today met the families of those who lost their lives in the Karur stampede and those injured in the incident. Earlier, the Madras High Court refused to stay the decision of the TVK government to give government jobs to the families of Karur stampede victims and allowed the distribution of appointment letters. However, the court clarified that these appointments will be purely temporary and has fixed July 21 for hearing the case before the appointees receive their first salary.

While addressing the people from the stage in the program organized at Atlas Ground in Karur to hand over letters of compassionate appointment to the families of the victims, Chief Minister Vijay targeted AIADMK and DMK. CM raised questions on the functioning of the police. He said, I had trusted the police to control the crowd and the police blamed me. Many families lost their children in this tragedy and this grief can never be forgotten. He said that this is a loss to the entire society which cannot be compensated.

Chief Minister Vijay announced that the TVK government will build a grand and permanent memorial in Karur district to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the accident. He assured all the victim families that the government is with them and they will be provided all possible assistance. It is noteworthy that 41 people were killed and 142 were injured due to a stampede during TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay’s rally in Karur on September 27 before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This matter was in the news a lot. The Supreme Court had handed over the investigation of the Karur stampede case to the CBI. CBI is still investigating this case.
