Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar Dies In Office: Death of Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar under suspicious circumstances, dead body found in police headquarters, fear of suicide.

New Delhi. Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) has been found dead at the police headquarters in Agartala. It is feared that DGP Anurag Dhankhar has committed suicide, although this has not been confirmed yet. His body was taken to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala. Police is investigating the matter. After the post mortem report comes, the situation regarding the cause of death will become clear. Anurag Dhankhar took over as DGP of Tripura in May 2025. He was a 1994 batch IPS officer of Tripura cadre and was originally from Baghpat district of UP.

In some media reports it is being claimed that DGP Dhankhar hanged himself in his office while in some it is being said that he committed suicide by shooting himself. According to the media report, senior doctor of GB Pant Hospital, Pradeep Bhowmik said that when DGP Dhankhar was brought to the hospital, there was no movement of any kind in his body. He was also given CPR but it was of no use. On the other hand, the incident spot has been sealed and evidence is being collected.

The question arising is that if DGP Dhankhar has committed suicide, then under what circumstances did he take such a big step? At present, no official statement has been issued by Tripura Police or Government regarding this incident. Information is also coming to light that Chief Minister Manik Saha himself reached the spot and took stock. Anurag Dhankhar had experience of working in many important positions related to police, intelligence and internal security. He was counted among the honest and sharp police officers.
