New Delhi. Amid the ongoing controversy over petrol containing E20 ethanol, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against him and his family for posting deepfake videos and defamatory posts. In the petition, permission has been sought to file a civil suit by making social media platforms including Meta, X, Google and unknown others as defendants. The High Court has listed Gadkari’s petition for hearing and allowed him to file the case.

In the petition filed by Nitin Gadkari, it has been said that false claims are being made against him on social media that he and his family have personally benefited from E20 fuel. Gadkari said that whatever allegations are being made against me and my family are completely baseless and defamatory. Gadkari also said in his petition that the government’s ethanol blending scheme comes under the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Road Transport Ministry has nothing to do with it.

Let us tell you that Gadkari holds the Road Transport Ministry and he has supported the government’s E20 ethanol blending policy many times. According to Gadkari, E20 fuel will take India towards energy self-sufficiency and will reduce pollution. Whereas because of this, Gadkari has been the target of people for the last few days. Many such claims are being made on social media that due to ethanol mixed petrol, the average speed of people’s vehicles has reduced and the engine is malfunctioning. Many videos related to such claims are going viral on social media. Even before this, Gadkari had said that a campaign is being run against him by his opponents regarding the E20 blending policy.
