Creepy murder case opened with ‘Rahul’ tattoo and T-shirt; The dead body was cut into pieces, packed in a bag and thrown away.
A sensational and brutal murder case has come to light from Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, in which another incident of a woman killing her husband along with her lover has come to light. To hide the identity of the victim, the criminals had cut the body into pieces and dumped them at different places. The case initially looked like a perfect murder, but a crucial clue led to the entire conspiracy being exposed. Police have arrested the accused wife Ruby and her lover Gaurav.
The matter came to light on 15 December. Chandausi Kotwali police recovered a badly decomposed torso from a black bag behind the Idgah on Pataroa Road. The head, arms and legs of the body were missing, making its identification a big challenge for the police. In the initial investigation, the condition of the body was so bad that identification seemed almost impossible.
Despite this, the police started a thorough investigation. During the forensic examination, officials noticed a tattoo on the torso’s hand, which had the name “Rahul” written on it. This proved to be the first major success of the investigation. However, the question was who was this Rahul?
After this the police started searching the records of missing cases. Investigation revealed that on November 24, the missing report of Rahul, resident of Chunni Mohalla of the same police station area, was lodged by his wife Ruby. After this Ruby was called to the police station for identification.
When the police showed Ruby the clothes found with the dead body, she flatly denied that it was her husband’s torso. However, the contradictions in his statements and his nervousness during interrogation further deepened the suspicion of the police.
The investigation took a decisive turn when the police searched Ruby’s mobile phone. Such photographs were found in her photo gallery, in which Ruby was standing with a young man and the young man was wearing the same T-shirt which was recovered in the black bag along with the torso. This matching of clothes became a very important evidence. After being exposed to the photos and other evidence, Ruby breaks down and confesses to the murder.
According to the police, Ruby was in a love affair with local youth Gaurav. He told that on the night of 17-18 November, he had called Gaurav to his house. At around 2 o’clock in the night, her husband Rahul suddenly returned home and found both of them in an objectionable condition. This led to a fight between the three, during which Ruby hit Rahul on the head with a heavy object, killing him on the spot.
After the murder, both of them conspired to dispose of the dead body. The next day, Gaurav arranged for a cutter machine and together they cut off Rahul’s head and severed his hands and legs. Ruby bought two big black bags from the market. According to the police, the head and body parts were packed in a bag and thrown into the Ganga river near Rajghat, about 50 km from Chandausi, while the torso was put in another bag and thrown behind the Idgah on Pataroa Road.
To hide the crime and mislead the police, Ruby filed a missing report of her husband on November 24. After the confession, police recovered cutter machine and other incriminating material from his house. The forensic team has also found evidence of the body being cut into pieces inside the house.
Police officials say that the tattoo on the decomposed body and the photographs found in the mobile phone were two important clues that exposed this gruesome murder. Both the accused have been arrested and the recovery of remaining body parts and further legal process is underway. This brutal incident has created a sensation in Sambhal district and has also highlighted the role of continuous and technical investigation of the police.
