Modi government’s new year gift, three metro corridors worth Rs 12015 crore!
Modi government has given a New Year gift to the people of Delhi-NCR. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the expansion of Delhi Metro. Union Minister Ashwani Vaishnav shared this information on Wednesday.
Union Minister Ashwani Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet has approved 3 new corridors under Phase 5A of Delhi Metro. 13 new metro stations will be built in this.
The three new corridors include RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha (9.913 km), Aerocity to IGI Airport T-1 (2.263 km) and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj (3.9 km).
The total length of this project is 16.076 km and will further improve connectivity in the national capital. The total cost of Delhi Metro Phase 5A project is Rs 12014.91 crore, which will be financed by the Government of India, Government of Delhi and international funding agencies.
The Central Vista Corridor will connect all the duty buildings, providing doorstep convenience to office goers and visitors to the area. This connectivity will benefit approximately 60,000 office goers and 2 lakh visitors every day. These corridors will improve living standards by reducing pollution and fossil fuel use.
On the decisions of the Union Cabinet, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 5A of Delhi Metro, in which 13 new stations will be built, including 10 underground and 3 elevated stations. This project is expected to be completed in 3 years.”
He said that under this, a 16 kilometer long new line will be laid, for which an investment of Rs 12,015 crore will be made. With this, the network of Delhi Metro will exceed 400 kilometers, which is a big achievement in itself.
Currently, 12 metro lines of approximately 395 km length, with 289 stations, are being operated by DMRC in Delhi and NCR. Today Delhi Metro is the largest metro network in India as well as one of the largest metro networks in the world.
