Rural women are becoming self-reliant by taking advantage of Gujarat government schemes!
Gujarat government is running many schemes with the aim of empowering women and making them self-reliant. Taking advantage of government schemes, rural women are moving towards self-reliance.
These women of self-help groups, earning their livelihood in rural areas of Aravalli district of Gujarat, are today’s example of how positive change can be brought in lives through women-centric schemes.
Through central and state government schemes like National Rural Livelihood Mission, Tribal Area Sub Plan, MNREGA, these rural women are being given training and financial assistance to become self-reliant, and are also being helped in the sale of products.
The women of Dashama Sakhi Mandal in Bathiwada village of Meghraj taluka have been trained in kite making, and today the members of the group are earning livelihood by making kites.
Dashama Sakhi Mandal member Jyotsnaben Parmar said that training in kite making was given by Sakhi Mandal. They make kites and earn a living.
In Waluna village of Meghraj taluka, Kamlaben Damor does organic farming and conservation of traditional seeds of crops which are on the verge of extinction under the ‘Sahas Kisan Atma Project’ circle. This women’s group has also been given a greenhouse and a store for seed storage by the government.
Kamlaben Damor said that she does natural farming and she is also getting the benefit of the government scheme. Are becoming financially strong.
Similarly, another women’s self-help group named Shivshakti Gram Sangathan does the business of making many types of chips including desi pickles and papad from local products. There are 8000 such women SHGs in Aravalli, out of which about 5000 women groups are active.
From time to time, the District Rural Development Agency and Taluka officials organize camps in the villages and provide training and financial assistance to the women of these groups.
Rajeshbhai Kuchara, Director of District Rural Development Agency, said that from time to time camps are organized and training and financial assistance is provided to women.
The success of these rural women of the state, who are becoming capable and self-reliant due to the government schemes being run under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, is inspiring.
Lakhs of rural women of Gujarat, once financially dependent on others, are today not only becoming financially empowered with the strength of their hard work and courage, but are also becoming the support of their families.
