Mamta Bengal Women Safety Attack
Once again serious questions have arisen regarding the safety of women in West Bengal. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Wednesday (December 31) made a direct attack on the Mamata Banerjee government by sharing a shocking video on the social media platform ‘X’. This video is said to be from North Bhanganamari village located in Basanti block of Canning sub-division of South 24 Parganas district, in which some men are allegedly seen brutally attacking women with sticks and bamboo sticks.
Sharing the video, Suvendu Adhikari wrote, “No woman is safe in Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal!!! Disturbing visuals from North Bhanganamari village.” He alleged that according to the complainant, Jalil Laskar, Munna Laskar, Arif Laskar and others were involved in the attack, who attacked the woman and her family members.
Questioning the law and order situation of the state, the officer said that such violence against women in broad daylight is extremely shocking. He indicated that the accused are allegedly close to the ruling party, due to which they could commit such crimes without fear. Suvendu Adhikari further said, “For the safety of women, it is necessary to oust this anti-women state government from power.”

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also gave a strong reaction on this issue. Describing the video as “scary”, he said that this incident is an indication of the complete breakdown of law and order in West Bengal. Malviya said, “Such open violence shows that criminals are feeling completely fearless either because of political patronage or because of the indifference of the state machinery.” She alleged that the current government has become “anti-women” and should be removed.
This video has become increasingly viral on social media, after which the state government is being strongly criticized. Many users have expressed concern about the safety of women and have demanded quick and strict action from the administration. However, the authenticity of the video and all aspects of the incident are yet to be officially confirmed.
The incident is being reported from North Bhanganamari village of South 24 Parganas district, where there have been reports of tension over local disputes in the past also. This latest case has once again intensified the debate in West Bengal on the safety of women, the courage of criminals and the role of police-administration. The opposition says that unless strict and fair action is taken against the culprits, political allegations and public anger will continue on such cases.
