Pm Modi Pre Budget Meeting Developed India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an important discussion with economists and experts from various fields at NITI Aayog on Wednesday ahead of the Union Budget 2026–27. The Prime Minister described the meeting as “insightful” and said that it brought forward important suggestions on the topic ‘Self-reliance and Structural Transformation: Agenda for a Developed India’. During the meeting, PM Modi stressed the need for mission-mode reforms in various sectors to sustain long-term economic growth.

Addressing the economists in the meeting, the Prime Minister said that this change is clearly visible in the changing patterns of education, consumption and global mobility. He said enhanced institutional capacity and advance infrastructure planning is essential to meet the needs of a more aspirational society. The Prime Minister emphasized that the policy making and budget process has to be linked to the vision of a developed India of 2047.

According to the official statement, PM Modi laid special emphasis on the need for mission-mode reforms to build global capabilities and achieve international integration. He said it is important to keep India a major hub for the global workforce and international markets. In this direction, coordination between labour, skill development and industrial policy was said to be important.
Economists and experts present at the meeting shared strategic suggestions to increase productivity and competitiveness in manufacturing and service sectors. The focus of the discussion was on accelerating structural transformation, with emphasis on increasing domestic savings, building strong infrastructure and adopting cutting-edge technology.
Experts highlighted Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a major tool to increase productivity in various sectors. Along with this, the continued expansion and scaling of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) was also discussed. The participants agreed that a series of comprehensive cross-sector reforms in 2025 and their strengthening in the coming year will help India remain among the world’s fastest growing economies, an official statement said.
Economists believe that through strong infrastructure, technological innovation and structural reforms, India will not only strengthen its economic base but also open up new opportunities. The suggestions put forth in the pre-budget meeting are being seen as important inputs for policy formulation in the upcoming Union Budget.
