Owaisi’s politics is based on the policy of divide and rule: Poonam Mahajan!

BJP leader Poonam Mahajan has strongly reacted to the statement of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in which he had talked about a woman wearing hijab becoming mayor. He said that Owaisi’s politics is completely based on the policy of “divide and rule”.

Speaking to IANS, Poonam Mahajan said that Owaisi is very sharp and experienced in giving speeches, but he does not use his experience in positive politics. AIMIM works like a branch of Congress. It only talks about the interests of Muslims, not the interests of the country and the society as a whole. Owaisi looks at every issue from the prism of Hindu-Muslim.

Poonam Mahajan sarcastically said that Owaisi will never talk about the basic problems of Mumbaikars like water shortage or questions related to pipelines. If there is a water pipeline, is it only for Hindus and not for Muslims?

The BJP leader clearly said that she does not even consider AIMIM politically. More than half of BJP’s corporators are Marathi and the party has a clear and concrete plan for the development of Mumbai, whereas AIMIM has no roadmap for development. Poonam Mahajan reiterated that only a son of land, a Marathi person and a Hindu will become the mayor of Mumbai.

Responding to the slogan of Marathi Manush, Poonam Mahajan said that she grew up in Maharashtra, thinks in Marathi and understands Mumbai deeply. The roots of Marathi language should start from home, because it is our mother tongue. It is not right to do politics only in the name of mother tongue and not do any work at the grassroots level.

He reminded that Marathi has been given the status of elite language by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even though the Prime Minister is not a Marathi, he understands very well the importance and antiquity of the Marathi language.

On the issue of ‘Vote Jihad’, Poonam Mahajan said that opposition parties have always fought elections on religious basis. Referring to 2019, he said that vote jihad was witnessed at that time, when Shiv Sena joined hands with Congress after winning the elections, while Shiv Sena called itself a party of Hindutva. He alleged that Congress openly talks about doing politics for one caste and one religion.

Poonam Mahajan said that some parties in Maharashtra and Mumbai are contesting elections on the policy of ‘Divide and Rule’ and it is being called vote jihad. He expressed confidence that Mumbaikars understand everything and will respond to such attempts at the right time.
