PM Modi laid the foundation of Kaziranga Corridor, said- India’s growth story is getting strengthened by the progress of Assam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the bhoomi pujan of the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project in Assam on Sunday (January 18). The 86 km long Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project is an environment-conscious National Highway project. It will have a 35 km elevated wildlife corridor, which will pass through Kaziranga National Park. He also flagged off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains.
Addressing the program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Assam’s confidence, Assam’s strength and Assam’s progress are giving new strength to India’s growth story. Today Assam is making its mark among the fast progressing states. The economy of Assam is gaining momentum. Bodoland and its people are playing an important role in this development and change.
He said that Kaziranga is not just a national park, it is the soul of Assam. It is a precious gem of India’s biodiversity. UNESCO has given it the status of World Heritage Site. PM Modi said that when nature is protected, opportunities also arise with it. There has been a steady increase in the number of tourists in Kaziranga in the last few years. Local youth have found new sources of income through homestays, guide services, transportation, handicrafts and small businesses.
Meanwhile, PM Modi shared his experience of an overnight stay in Kaziranga National Park two years ago. He said, “I have the privilege of visiting Kaziranga again. In such a situation, it is very natural for me to remember my previous visit. The moments spent in Kaziranga two years ago are among the most special experiences of my life.”
He further said, “I had the opportunity to stay overnight in Kaziranga National Park and the next day during the elephant safari, I experienced the beauty of this region very closely. I always get a different pleasure by coming to Assam.”
During the program, PM Modi said that the coverage of forests and trees has increased in the country in the last decade. People have enthusiastically participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. So far, more than 260 crore saplings have been planted under this campaign.
