Theft of Rs 5.40 lakh from BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s residence in Mumbai, former employee accused arrested
Police has disclosed the case of theft of ₹ 5.40 lakh from the residence of BJP MP and famous singer Manoj Tiwari in Mumbai. This theft was not done by any outsider, but by his former employee with the help of duplicate keys. Mumbai Police has arrested the accused and he has confessed to the theft during interrogation.
The incident took place in Sunderban Building located in Shastri Nagar area of Andheri West, where Manoj Tiwari has a flat. A complaint was lodged in this matter at Amboli police station. The complaint was lodged by Manoj Tiwari’s manager Pramod Jogendra Pandey, who has been associated with him for the last 20 years.
According to the police, a total of ₹5.40 lakh was found missing from the cash kept in the bedroom of the flat. Investigation revealed that ₹ 4.40 lakh had been stolen from the cupboard in June 2025, but at that time the person who committed the theft could not be identified. Due to lack of any concrete clue regarding the incident, the case remained unsolved for a long time.
After this, keeping security in mind, CCTV cameras were installed inside Manoj Tiwari’s residence in December 2025. On January 15, 2026, around 9 pm, in the CCTV footage, a person was seen opening the cupboard and taking out ₹1 lakh in cash. On examining the footage, he was identified as Surendrakumar Dinanath Sharma, who had previously worked with Manoj Tiwari.
Police said that Surendrakumar Sharma was removed from the job about two years ago. Despite this, he had duplicate keys of the house, bedroom and cupboard, using which he entered the flat and committed the theft. On the basis of CCTV footage, the police detained him.
During interrogation, the accused also confessed to his involvement in the theft of ₹ 4.40 lakh that took place in June 2025. According to the police, the accused had stolen cash in the same manner earlier also, but no electronic evidence was available at that time.
Amboli police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections and started further investigation. The police are also investigating where the stolen money was used and whether the accused had committed similar thefts at any other place.
